chapter 36

GARV'S POV

She didn't listen to my words. I never thought I would shed tears for anyone, but today, I couldn't hold them back. She's always right, but this time, Pratha, you're wrong. I can see it in your eyes, even though you pretend in front of everyone, this marriage proposal is affecting you.

But how can I explain that I'm not doing this for myself? How can I tell you that seeing you cry hurts me deeply? I can't be with you, but I can't imagine my life without you either. Maybe you'll start hating me for this, but if we stay together, I know you'll only get hurt. I know you might despise me, but believe me, my love for you will never fade. I pray that your god ji protects you from every problem.

Past....

I was watching her sleep peacefully when my phone started ringing in my pocket.

I answered the call, "Hello?"

I heard Barkha's voice on the other end, "Hello, Garv."

She sounded mischievous as she said, "I know, baby, the deal isn't done yet, but guess what? I have a surprise for you."

Her laughter sent shivers down my spine. Frustrated, I replied, "What nonsense?" and raised my voice a little. Then, Barkha dropped a bombshell,

"Actually, my sweet gun is pointing at your Dadu."

My heart sank, and I panicked, "No, Barkha, no!"

Trying to find a way out, she taunted, "Okay, then come back here, Garv."

I couldn't bear the thought of putting my family in danger, so I abruptly ended the call. I grabbed a pen from my pocket and hastily started writing a letter to Pratha. I needed to warn her not to contact me because if Barkha found out about her, she would surely try to harm Pratha. It was a race against time to keep my loved ones safe.

Present...

PRATHA'S POV

I entered the room where she was getting ready, i was wearing a baby pink saree. And there she was, looking like an angel in that white gown.

"Aww, my bestie is really looking like an angel today," I said, and she turned her face towards me.

"Oh, Pratha, finally," she said, and we hugged each other tightly. It felt so good to be together.

"Finally, you came," she said with a smile. "Yeah, today is my cutie's engagement," I said, feeling excited for her. I couldn't help but kiss her forehead, showing my love and happiness.

"Aww, I'm not a baby anymore, and I'm your best friend, not a child," she playfully teased me. I couldn't help but laugh along with her.

"Haha, you know what? You're going to get married, but you still look like a 5-year-old girl," I said, teasing her back. It was such a joyous moment, filled with laughter and love. Suddenly, her mother entered the room, and they started talking. I noticed Aarush standing there.

"Oh, Pratha is here," he exclaimed, coming closer to me.

"Aww, Aarush, you're looking so handsome," I complimented him, blushing a little. I leaned in, and he kissed my cheek before running away, leaving me with a smile on my face.

So, I stormed out of the room, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness. I wasn't in the mood to deal with anyone at that moment, so when I accidentally bumped into a guy, I just brushed it off and continued on my way. As I made my way towards the gathering of guests, I couldn't help but notice a group of boys approaching me.

It seemed like they were snickering and making fun of me. I felt my anger rise as one of them tried to touch his shoulder to mine, but before anything could happen, someone suddenly pulled me away from the situation. And there he was, Garv, looking into my eyes.

"Are you okay?" he asked, his concern evident in his voice. I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions, including anger and confusion.

I blurted out, "I think you're only pretending to care because you're trying to get closer to me again."

Garv looked hurt by my words, and he quickly responded, "Pratha, I understand why you might think that, but I swear I never intended to cross any boundaries. I never cheated on you."

I pulled myself away from him, still feeling a whirlwind of emotions inside me. It was difficult to trust him again after what had happened, but a part of me wanted to believe him.

" What boundaries, huh? You know what? You never respect my love, so what boundaries? " I said in anger with a painful.

GARV'S POV:

"Oh, really? Boundaries? Do you think IΒ  never respected your love?" I couldn't believe what Pratha was saying. Her words cut deep and shattered my heart into a million pieces. I never imagined that she would question my respect for her. It felt like a cruel joke.

"You really think that?" I replied, my voice filled with a mix of hurt and frustration. I held her tightly by her shoulder, my grip tightening.

"Tell me this while looking into my eyes," I demanded, hoping she would see the truth in my gaze.

"Garv, leave me! You're hurting me," Pratha pleaded, her voice filled with pain.

"Hurt? Do you have any idea how much you're hurting me with these accusations?" I said, my voice trembling with emotion. I decided to take her to a quiet room where we could talk privately. There was no one else around. I continued to hold her shoulder tightly, but I realized that my grip was causing her more distress.

"You've changed," she said, her voice filled with sadness and disappointment.

In that moment, I understood that my actions were only causing her more pain. I released my grip on her shoulder, the anger within me reaching its peak.

"You know what? Just get out, please," I said, my voice filled with a mixture of anger and sorrow. I let her go, watching as she walked away from the room and from me.

Overwhelmed by anger and sadness, I couldn't contain my emotions any longer. I shouted in frustration, feeling the weight of the situation crashing down on me. I made my way back to my room and grabbed my suitcase. As I opened it, I saw pictures of Pratha, memories of our time together. The pain was unbearable.

"An entire world of people can never replace the one I've lost," I whispered to myself, my voice filled with grief. With a heavy heart, I threw the pictures into the dustbin, a symbolic act of letting go.

"I have to forget you. It's the only way to keep you safe from the danger," I whispered, tears streaming down my face.

The room fell silent as I tried to come to terms with the reality of our broken relationship. It was a painful realization, but I knew that I had to find a way to move on, even though it felt impossible at that moment.
